prentiss bay

It looks like we are just about to pull out of a sweltering heat wave here in Baltimore. I know that much of North America has been dealing with the intense heat and humidity, and I have a feeling others will be joining me as I let out a huge sigh of relief.

This heat wave came a couple of days after Craig and I returned from a week’s vacation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where we spent some time with my dad and stepmom. They have a cabin on Prentiss Bay off of Lake Huron, and it is such a lovely place to visit. We spend our time there relaxing, reading, kayaking, boating, bocce-balling, eating and drinking, sleeping, golfing, and catching up with one another. It is so peaceful and calm up there, it’s impossible not to relax.

This is the view from the spot where I could often be found (on the deck), book or knitting in hand, refreshing beverage nearby:

See? Peaceful and calm. It makes me relax a bit just looking at this photo and remembering how good it feels to be there.

Our trip was just what we needed – a welcome respite from the daily grind – and we returned refreshed and renewed. We are lucky to have such a great place to visit so readily available to us. Thanks, Dad and Judy!
