homeward bound

While of course my current home is here in Baltimore with Craig, my home will also always be in Michigan. I grew up there (outside of Ann Arbor) and my parents are still there, even though their kids have scattered. We try to get back during the holidays and maybe the summer each year.

So today, in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday, I’m homeward bound. I’m flying to Michigan (it was a last-minute decision, but it’s hard to beat a $59 one-way fare!), a couple of days ahead of Craig – he’ll drive out on Tuesday. My brother arrives from Denver on Wednesday, and even my 94-year-old grandmother is making the trip from Indiana. Gotta love the holidays for pulling everyone together.

Here’s Macy trying to inch her way into the items piled up for the suitcase.

And the pile of comforter behind her? That’s Rocky, under the covers. He’s never a happy camper when he sees the suitcase come out. That’s a sure sign of something bad about to happen. (The dogs will stay at the house with a dogsitter, though, so it won’t be anything too traumatic for them.)

I’m just about to head out the door, but of course the last thing to do is to blog and then pack the laptop! More from Michigan this week…

Have a good trip! We are headed to Denver for Thanksgiving ourselves on Wed. Leaving today will be nice though – you’ll beat the crazy holiday travel nightmare at the airport. I love how the dogs react to the suitcase. Al gets very forlorn-looking when we take out the suitcases too.

Happy travels! The picture of Macy is cute (and the lump too lol). It’s so funny how dogs just know what’s going on. We always had to have a dogsitter too. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family!
