About a year and a half ago, we installed a lovely garden in our backyard. I use the terms “we” and “installed” loosely, as the garden was designed by a friend (although I am a registered (and retired) landscape architect and hold a BS in landscape architecture, planting design was never my thing and Gary provided a design that was 100 times better than anything I could have come up with) and installed by professionals. It’s amazing to see how much the plants have grown since then. Actually, just now looking at those photos, I’m almost speechless. I never would have imagined the plants would have grown this much already.
Craig and I worked our butts off (and wore our backs out) on Friday evening and through Saturday morning and afternoon to spread about six cubic yards of mulch throughout the garden. I love the way fresh mulch makes the plants pop, plus the mulch will also help the soil retain moisture.
I’m glad we got the mulching done on Saturday, since we spent yesterday in Philadelphia with friends and just now a big thunderstorm rolled in. I have a trembling beagle at my feet right now – poor Rocky does not like these storms. Thankfully we also got the lawn mowed this morning since the forecast is calling for rain much of this week. That’s okay with me – those plants need some good rain!
