Craig and I returned late last night from a wonderful week in Colorado. We flew in and out of Denver and crashed on my brother Matt’s futon one night on each end of the trip, but spent the bulk of the week at my other brother and sister-in-law’s home in New Castle, on the western side of the mountains. David and Chelsea were wonderful hosts, especially considering the fact that there were between six and nine of us (at different times) in their two-bedroom, one-bathroom house, along with their two dogs plus a visiting dog. I’m sure they are enjoying some peace and quiet now that we have all left!
We spent Christmas Day in a nontraditional manner that was well-suited to our group: downhill skiing at Sunlight (which was wonderful), soaking in the hot springs, a pasta dinner (the family recipe, of course), and a rowdy game of Texas Hold ‘Em. I really could not have asked for more. It was a perfect day.
Other activities throughout the week included snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, bowling, games, and lots of eating and drinking. It was a really nice visit, and we look forward to making the trip again in the future.
