I just had one of those highly irritating phone calls at work where a person who I have never talked to before calls upset about something and expects me to be able to fix it immediately. She immediately shot down every suggestion I had. Then she asked me a question, and I did not know the answer to it. She said, “Oh, are you new?” in a really condescending tone. Using every ounce of energy I could muster to refrain from saying something really nasty, I replied, “No, I have worked here for three years. I am the supervising attorney.” What I really wanted to say was, “Screw you!”
I feel much better now.
